Getting Started

#21
@tculmann - It is so great to see you enrolled in the program again. It is really heartening for us that you would return to the program even after circumstances made you stop before. It encourages us that the content we are providing is quality.
The prophetic foundations course is one of my favorites as well. I have a personality that is pretty attracted to the prophetic aspects of God. That course is so thorough, dealing in depth with the scriptural way to handle prophecy and the prophetic. I am so glad you enjoyed it also.

When it comes to studying for exams, your best friend is the workbooks. While the digital versions are good - you can purchase the hardcopy versions which most people prefer to take notes in, highlight and circle, etc... Going through this while also going through the material, and a little extra study should be able to get you through just fine! Also, each exam has two attempts. We take whichever score is the highest!

God bless,

Brad
Thank you Brad for the recommendation. I just completed the 1st group of sessions.

I started ISOM beginning of 2018 I couldn't navigate on how to study on my own.I was just paying online but not learning. May you please help on how I can start again and how I can also find other students in my location. Thanks your help.
Once you get to understand how to follow the modules and do the exams, it's very easy. Also, make sure you connect with the students here in the connect group, following the threads that correspond to each module.

Welcome
Hello and welcome to ISOM Connect! We've created this platform for students to be able to connect with each other, as well as with us as the online ISOM team. It will also enable you to share feedback as to what God is putting on your heart!

The first thing you as a student need to do is to REGISTER on the forums. You can register by clicking "Register" on the top right button on this page. Once you are registered and logged in, you will then have the ability to post and interact on the forums.

What to expect
At the end of each ISOM session, you will see in your workbook that there are "group discussion" questions. We have chosen 3 questions from each course to be the topics of discussion for each course. As you go through each semester on the forum, you'll see all the courses listed out. Choose the course and session you would like to discuss and begin posting! The 3 questions we write are just a guideline to help you get started, but every student is encouraged to branch out and share/ask what has been placed on their own heart.

There are many different ways for you to get involved in the conversation! You can send direct message to your fellow classmates, post in the class discussion, share a testimony from your time doing ISOM, or ask for specific prayer requests. Don't be afraid to jump in!

Navigating the Forums
Your Profile

If you haven't already, be sure to go to your profile and update your information. You can add a picture of yourself, let us know your birthday, connect your social media, and more! Just click your name on the top menu, and then click "Account details".

Media
In the top menu, you'll see a "Media" tab where all of the Connect videos are posted. We will always post any new videos or media content here for the students to easily access. We record a new session every Tuesday and postings normally happen by the end of the day each Wednesday.

Guidelines
For many students, communicating over the internet is a new venture. Therefore, we thought it would be a benefit to give a quick guideline for how your writing should be formed in an online forum.
This is how to communicate the W.R.I.T.E. way.

(W)arm-
Online communication can be cold and disconnected, if not intentionally made to be warm or kind. It is easy to read harshness into someone else's words. Be sure to always phrase your writing in the kindest way possible. Any harsh or unruly posts will be removed promptly.

(R)esponsive-
Make sure to not just post your own thoughts and opinions all the time. Be sure to read through what God is speaking to other students and encourage them, as well foster more dialogue.

(I)nquisitive-
When in doubt... ask questions! If you need any clarification from the staff or other student, do not keep your questions to yourself. Often times a lot of miscommunication can be resolved with a single question and answer.

(T)entativeness-
Do not feel rushed or pressured to post quickly. Put thought into your posts and make sure that you are purposeful in what you are saying. If talking to another student, be sure to re-read what you have written and make sure that it can not be taken negatively or in a critical way. Defensiveness is reduced when people sense tentativeness and gentleness in other's responses.

(E)mpathy-
An important aspect of online communication is to put yourself in the shoes of the other online students and instructors. Their level of understanding may be in a different place than yours, or God may be speaking to them about an entirely different concept. Keep an open mind and heart and remember that you can learn from anybody. We are all in different stages of our walk with God!

Questions
If you need any assistance, you can email anyone on the "Staff" team (Slav@isom.org, Angel@isom.org, or Brad@isom.org). You have the option of directly messaging us from your inbox, or posting in the "Questions" section of the forum.

Hello everyone. I started with ISOM about 5 months ago and have completed the AA classes and hope to begin on the BA courses in the near future. I am, however, looking forward to go through some of the discussions and going back to re-review some of the AA material as I wait to begin my BA studies.

Being able to study online with ISOM has been a tremendous blessing and I am incredibly grateful for all of the hard work that I know the staff as put into putting this amazing program together. I look forward to studying with all of you and growing in Christ together.

Hello Everyone. I am new this program as of 02/2019 for the very first time. I am still trying to understand how it works, learning with all of you, and looking forward to what God has for me in this phase of my life. I solicit your prayers.
G'day from Downunder. And welcome to the ISOM Connect. I literally just returned from California- USA, attending the Isom conference. You'll find that as you fully surrender to the Lord, He will carry you through and reveal the wonders, the glory, the truth if His word. I'll be praying for you. Blessings Rick

Hello beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. I just started the ISOM degree programme last month. It is a deep spiritual experience for me. Having being in full time Pastoral ministry for close to two decades, I can humbly say that I am making new spiritual discoveries in this program. It is a great privilege to be a part of such a great spiritual movement. Thank you all for the opportunity to learn and share. God bless you.
